I've been looking for a solution to this problem for quite some time being a full time software engineer and sometimes working late into the dark hours of the night.

One feature that I think should be on every monitor are dedicated brightness controls like we have for laptops. Desktops have not been provided this luxury so I wrote a macro for ForteManager 3.18 that will adjust your brightness up or down by pressing Windows Key + Up or Windows Key + Down.

All you have to do is download AutoHotkey and forteManager.

After installing both pieces of software, download this AHK macro for XP or 7/Vista. After you open the AHK file, AutoHotkey will run in the background waiting for you to press the key combination above. If after testing those keys it crashes or doesnt work you will need to right click...edit the script to point to your forteManager 3.18 executable.
