Resistance 2 Review5/5 Stars | Posted by Brent on Oct 29th 08 02:52 PM
Resistance 2 is the next generation of multi-player gaming. Far too long has it been pit the world against each other. Other games have made attempts at cooperative multiplayer online but none in my mind have come close to Resistance 2. The enemies are intelligent, it felt like my team of 8 was in the room with me; all of us working toward the goal of finishing the game. Then it hit me I had only played two very small levels of this fantastic Cooperative experience complete with multiple classes and upgrades to your abilities along the way.
Cooperative wasn't the only multiplayer mode, it was just the one I enjoyed the most. Competitive online is slated to have games of up to 60 players pitted against each other. I only saw games of less than 18 but I can imagine the battles scaling up quite nicely. The competitive has it's own upgrades and class system which reminds me a little bit of Team Fortress 2. You can select your class for its abilities and then get weapon upgrades along the way for the class. The marked difference would be that the Resistance 2 class and weapon set is fully developed and includes all of your favorite guns from both Resistance and Resistance 2's single player.
The graphics and gameplay immersion are pretty good, I never felt out of the alternate history world that I was placed in when I started playing. It all moves smoothly and I ran into none of those typical bugs you find in lower quality last minute multiplayer addittions to games or just genuinely cheap single player games.
Overall it's a must-buy of 5 stars because of it's potential long-term replay value and the amazing story that goes along with it.
